Wolves Continue Conference Play in Kentucky

10/6/2025 3:20:00 PM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG volleyball team stays on the road to face off against Bellarmine this Friday (Oct. 10) at 6 p.m. prior to taking on Eastern Kentucky on Sunday (Oct. 12) at 12 p.m. Both matches are streaming on ESPN+ with links tagged at the top of the page.

Through two weeks of conference play, UWG (2-15, 0-4 ASUN) is still searching for its first ASUN win of the 2025 campaign. In the team's latest match, right side hitter Grace-Blythe Cornett tied her career-high of 16 points and 15 kills against Stetson (Oct. 5). The last time the redshirt sophomore reached these figures was against Southwestern Oklahoma while she was competing (Sept. 7, 2024) for Alabama Huntsville. Currently, UWG has three Wolves on the ASUN leaderboards with middle blocker Sanai Young's 48 blocks placing her seventh, setter Addy Franz posting a ninth-best 360 assists and libero Olivia Kremer ranking 10th in digs with 195. As a team, the Pack posts a .129 hitting percentage and a .890 reception percentage.

For the Knights, Bellarmine (7-9, 1-3 ASUN) is led in scoring by outside hitter Natalie Bland with 222 points and 199 kills, good for third and second-best in the ASUN. This comes as no surprise to the Knights, as Bland led the team last season with 396.5 points and 369 kills. In her career, the junior has recorded 20 or more points in a match five times and has posted a career-high 33.5 points and 30 kills vs Central Arkansas (Nov. 16, 2024). On defense, libero Payton Parsons posts a BU-best 240 digs, placing her fifth in the ASUN. The Knights are coming off their first ASUN victory of the season, beating Austin Peay on the road after winning sets two, three and five. As a team, BU records a .165 hitting percentage and a .935 reception percentage. Bellarmine leads the all-time series against UWG, 1-0, having beaten the Wolves in The City of Dreams last season (Oct. 18, 2024).

Looking at Sunday's matchup, EKU (10-6, 2-2 ASUN) is led offensively by freshman outside hitter Addison Burke with 225.5 points, fueled by 193 kills, ranking her second in points and fourth in kills in the conference. Trailing just behind Burke with 216 points, but leading the team with 194 kills is right side hitter AG Hynes. These figures place the senior third in kills and fourth in total points in the ASUN, while also placing sixth in hitting percentage with a .338 average. As a team, the Colonels rank top-three in the league in assists (first), kills (first), hitting percentage (second), points (third) and digs (third). Their two ASUN victories was a 3-1 road win over Bellarmine (Sept. 26) and a 3-0 road sweep against APSU (Oct. 3). Going into the weekend of ASUN action, the Colonels post a .254 hitting percentage and a .922 reception percentage. The all-time series is tied at 1-1 with the Wolves taking match one in 1975, before falling to the Colonels last season (Oct. 20, 2024).
