JONESBORO, Ark. - Another day and another record falls for the UWG women's golf team.
Behind a final round 289, the Wolves posted a school record 54-hole team score of 867 and posted a third-place finish at the Lady Red Wolves Classic at Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
"The girls are in such impressive form and confidence is so high. It's a good place to be. To see the plan executed to perfection was a joy," said head coach Will Snodgrass. "We knew the opening holes would set us behind a little and were encouraged not to stress. We closed on some favorable holes we knew we could score well on. The girls did just that. Our finishing nine holes were sensational. It's another record set, and another feather in the cap for this team. The players deserve all the credit, and all the accolades."
Three Wolves finished inside the top-25 and were once again led by Hannah Barrett who made two birdies on her way to a final round 72 and a 16th-place finish. Sophie Dhaliwal and Emma Baier both tied for 25th with Dhaliwal shooting 72 in Tuesday's round while Baier birdied two of her last three holes to finish with a 74.
A fourth player was inside the top-30 as Erin Sullivan finished 30th with a final round score of 76. The lowest round of the day by any UWG golfer, however, was Sofia Mondragon who appeared back in form with a one-under 71 to secure a 56th-place finish.
The Wolves finished behind only UL Monroe and Memphis with the Warhawks claiming the team title by 20 strokes. UWG was two behind Memphis for second place and tied with Morehead State. UWG finished ahead of ASUN programs Austin Peay and North Alabama as well as future UAC foe Little Rock.
The Wolves' next action is set for October 27-28 at The Judson hosted by Southern Miss in Hattiesburg.
