HATTIESBURG, Miss. - It was a fifth-place finish when all was settled on Tuesday for the UWG women's golf team. The Wolves closed out the Judson at Hattiesburg Country Club with a final round 297, for yet another solid showing.
UWG had three individuals in the top 20, led by an 11th-place finish from Emma Baier while Sofia Mondragon finished 19th and Hannah Barrett placed 20th.
"Our progress this fall has been very satisfying," said head coach Will Snodgrass. "We are so solid one through five and any given player has the ability to go under par."
Baier closed with a 75 on Tuesday, finishing with a 54-hole total of 216. Both Baier and Mondragon had a pair of birdies in the final round, and Mondragon finished with a 77. Barrett led the team on Tuesday, making three birdies and finishing with an even par 72.
Erin Sullivan also had two birdies in her final round, carding a 74 to finish tied for 26th place with teammate Sophie Dhaliwal who finished with a 76 on Tuesday.
The Wolves finished in fifth place in a field of eleven behind Tulane, Southern Miss, Central Arkansas, and Samford.
"The team development is quite inspiring and I really appreciate the team's desire and commitment to what we are trying to achieve," Snodgrass added, "And we still have more to play for next week at Mercer.
UWG is in Forsyth, Georgia next week for the Mercer Invitational on November 2-3.
