FORSYTH, Ga. - Just one round remains on the fall slate for the UWG women's golf team after rounds of 301 and 295 on Sunday at the Mercer Invitational. The Wolves sit in second place out of eight teams after Sunday's action at River Forest Golf Club.
Junior Emma Baier paced the Wolves on Sunday, opening her tournament with a one-under 70 on the par-71 layout. Baier made four birdies in round one and began round two with her fifth birdie of the event and finished the afternoon round with a 74. Baier is in second place individually with one roud to go.
Next down the leaderboard for UWG is freshman Sophie Dhaliwal who shot rounds of 78 and 73 on Sunday. Dhaliwal had four birdies on the day all in round two and she's in 13th place heading into tomorrow.
Sofia Mondragon is in 17th place after carding back-to-back rounds of 76 on day one. The sophomore had two birdies on the day, both coming on par threes in round one.
Hannah Barrett is in 22nd place individually with rounds of 82 and 72. The junior's one-over round two was the lineup-low in the afternoon. One stroke behind Barrett is Erin Sullivan who shot 77 and 78 on Sunday.
Two Wolves, Anna Olesen and Keira Wolf, are in the event competing as individuals. Olesen opened with an 81 before firing a two-under 69 in the second round to sit in 10th place on the leaderboard. Wolf went 76 in the opening round followed by an 80 which is good for 25th place with 18 holes to play.
West Georgia is trailing tournament host Mercer by 10 strokes heading into tomorrow's final round. The Wolves hold a one-stroke advantage over Florida Atlantic who is in third.
The final round from River Forest Golf Club in Forsyth is set for 9 a.m. on Monday morning.
