Wolves Set Multiple New Records in Alabama

2/8/2025 6:58:00 PM

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The UWG women's track and field team carried the momentum of yesterday's record-breaking day into the Green and Gold Invitational hosted by UAB. The Invitational was highlighted by multiple record-setting runs.

First, sophomore Chloe Leblanc broke the UWG 600m record with a run of 1:49.65. Then, senior Alexis Doll rebroke that same record with a time of 1:48.09.

The record-shattering continued as sophomore Kristal McQueen set a new UWG one-mile record with a time of 5:21.25.

In a day of milestone performances, freshman Tykendra Daniel set a new UWG 400m record with a time of 56.77, surpassing her previous best of 57.14 set at the Samford Invitational.

Following today's event, head coach Ryan Bailey talked about this weekend's success, stating, "Our athletes broke over a dozen school records this weekend - not to mention dozens of Personal Best marks so I am extremely pleased, of course. My message to them all season is to strive to improve on something, no matter how small, every day. It seems they have been doing just that, and I couldn't be prouder of them."

Similarly to yesterday, the Wolves competed in a variety of events in the Birmingham Crossplex throughout Saturday.

Sprints
No sprinters from the pack made it to the 60m finals, but the Wolves still had strong performances. Senior Dasani Minter led the charge with a time of 8.26 to place 48th. Freshman Jordan Kelly followed slightly behind with a time of 8.40 to finish in 53rd.

Junior Campbell Brown competed for the Wolves in the 200m, placing 23rd with a time of 26.02.

As mentioned, Daniel broke her previously set 400m UWG record of 57.14 with a time of 56.77. This placed her in ninth overall out of 53 runners. Daniels was one of three freshmen to finish in the top-ten.

Hurdles
Leblanc led the way in the 60m hurdles for UWG, placing 29th in the prelims with a time of 9.63. Sophomore Valeyna Renteria-Silva crossed the line at the 9.66 second mark to finish 31st in the prelims. Junior Elizabeth Osborne came in next with a time of 10.40 to rank 38th overall. These times did not qualify for the finals.

Distance
Senior Olivia Fulford, Leblanc and Doll took on the 600m for the Wolves. Leblanc broke the school record with a time of 1:49.65 to place 26th and then Doll re-set this record with a time of 1:48.09 and a 22nd place finish. Fulford crossed the line with a time of 1:51.39 in 30th position.

Sophomore Jordan Jarnot represented UWG in the 800m, posting a time of 2:38.46 to place in 29th.

The 600m record was not the only UWG distance record to be broken today. As previously mentioned, McQueen set a new UWG one mile record with a time of 5:21.25, finishing in 16th. Junior Kathrin Maurer was with McQueen every step of the way, crossing the line in 17th with a time of 5:21.40. Sophomore Laney Pierce closed out the pack with a strong 30th place finish with a time of 5:44.74.
