OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. - A second round 302 pushed the UWG women's golf team up to 10th place after 36 holes of the ASUN Championships at the Robert Trent Jones Hampton Cove on Tuesday.
The round was the third best round of any team in the field, coming in behind Lipscomb's 300 and Central Arkansas's 295. Lipscomb jumped up to the team lead over Stetson while the Wolves jumped Bellarmine and are now tied with Queens for 10th.
For the second straight round, sophomore Hannah Barrett led the Wolves, besting her opening round with a one-over 73. The Richmond Hill native made five birdies on the day, rolling in two on an even-par front nine before making three on the back side including her final hole. Barrett is in fifth place with 18 holes to play
Next down the leaderboard for the Wolves is freshman Sofia Mondragon, who shot a second round 76 and is in 22nd place. Mondragon made three birdies on the day, and stumbled coming in with bogeys at 17 and 18, but still managed a one-stroke improvement from round one.
Making an eight-stroke improvement on day two was Keira Wolf, who had the second-best round of the day in UWG's lineup, making two birdies on an even-par back nine. Wolf is in 40th place individually.
Head coach Will Snodgrass made a sub in the lineup, inserting Rachel Mackinlay in on day two, and the freshman shot a 78 in her ASUN Championships debut, contributing to the team score of 302. Erin Sullivan was the score that didn't count to the team total, but the junior was three shots better on Monday than she was on Sunday, firing a 79 with two birdies in her last four holes and is in 46th place.
The final round is set for tomorrow from Hampton Cove just outside of Huntsville, Alabama.
