Women's Golf Uses Strong Second Round, Opens Season with Seventh-Place Finish

CLEMSON, S.C. - A strong second round highlighted the opening day of the 2025-26 UWG women's golf season as the Wolves improved by 15 strokes from round one to two, finishing the one-day Tiger Classic in seventh place. 

UWG opened with a 309 in round one before posting a six-over 294 in the second and final round at The Walker Course at Clemson University. 

The Wolves were led by junior Hannah Barrett who shot back-to-back rounds of 72 to notch a 12th-place finish in her first tournament of year three in the program. Barrett was extremely consistent on Monday, making 30 pars, three birdies, and three bogeys on her way to an even-par total. 

Freshman Sophie Dahliwal opened her career with a 79 in round one and responded with a one-over 73 that featured three birdies on her way to a 37th-place finish. One shot behind Dhaliwal was sophomore Sofia Mondragon who began her season with a 78 and finished up the day with a three-over 75. Senior Erin Sullivan was one shot behind Mondragon, shooting an 80 in the opening round and a two-over 74 in the second. 

Rounding out the lineup was sophomore Anna Olesen. The Switzerland native shot an 86 in round one and rebounded nicely with a 75 in the final round. 

As a team, UWG made 16 birdies in two rounds with 13 of those coming in round two.  

West Georgia women's golf's next action is set for September 15-16as they head to Paducah, Kentucky to compete in The Velvet hosted by Murray State.
