West Georgia Concludes Day One of the Catamount Classic

CULLOWHEE, N.C., -  UWG women's track and field wrapped up day one of the Catamount Classic today with four podiums.

Carleigh Bynum placed first in the pole vault with a 3.55m mark, Dru Green earned second in the hammer with a 48.10m throw, Jaycee Woods ranked second with a javelin mark 39.79 and Taylor Hampton took third in the long jump with a mark of 5.61m

JUMPS AND VAULTS
As mentioned, Bynum took first in the pole vault. Following Bynum, Emily Jones earned sixth with a mark of 3.25m and Mallory Peavey took ninth with a mark of 3.10m. 

Following Hampton's first place finish in long jump, Dasani Minter's leap of 4.78m positioned her in 16th. 


THROWS 
Continuing to make a statement at each meet, the throwers showed out again today with three placing in the top-ten of the hammer. Following Green's 48.10m second place throw, Day Atkins came in with a mark of 46.69m for sixth place and Kyla Ford rounded out the top-ten finishes with a throw of 45.06m to position herself in eighth. Madeline Campbell was just outside the mark with a 41.60m, placing 12th. Jaycee Woods finished the strong UWG showing with a throw of 38.40m to place 17th respectively. 

As mentioned, Woods posted a podium in the javelin. After Woods, Haley Trammell's throw earned her seventh on a throw of 30.91

SPRINTS AND HURDLES
Crossing the line at the 12.31 mark, Campbell Brown was the lone Wolf in the 100m to qualify in tomorrow's finals. Race time is set for 1:30 p.m. 

Alexis Doll led the Pack in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.13 to earn ninth. Chioma Uwaomah placed 15th with a time of 15.93. 

In the 200m, Shamiya Perry placed 21st with a time of 26.01 and Alexis Doll crossed in 31st with a time of 27.44. 

DISTANCE
Five Wolves raced in the 1500m today. Following a record setting steeplechase at the Georgia Tech Invitational, Kathrin Maurer led the Pack in 17th place with a 4:59.98. Following Maurer, Jordan Jarnot crossed at 5:23.31 to earn 24th, Stephanie Beltran finished in 25th with a 5:32.98, Madeline Gaskin followed with a 5:38.33 and Linda Vasquez closed out the group with a 5:42.10 for 27th

Wrapping day one up with the 5000m, Catherine Greer crossed at 19:39.38 in 19th, Laney Pierce placed 24th on a time of 19:48.46 and Brooklyn Crabtree took 26th with a time of 19:54.19.
