Women’s Track and Field Sits in Fifth of the ASUN Outdoor Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., - UWG women's track and field ranks fifth with 32 points through two days of the ASUN Outdoor Championship.

Some standout performances include throwers Day Atkins and Dru Green taking first and second in the discus with marks of 45.71m and 45.42m. Atkins throw earned the team 10 points and Green's garnered 8. Outside of throws Tykendra Daniel qualified for the 400m finals with 56.29 with the seventh fastest time in the prelims.

HEPTATHLON
With three events remaining in the heptathlon, the group of athletes opened day two with the long jump. Alexis Doll's 4.79m jump placed her eighth. In the javelin, Doll recorded a sixth-best throw in the field with a 27.31m mark. Wrapping up the heptathlon with the 800m run, Doll crossed at 2:36.82 in fourth place. Doll finished with 3441 points in ninth overall. 

THROWS
Following Atkins and Green in the discus, Chioma Uwaomah's 37.27m throw was the 12th furthest and Kyla Ford's 32.72m mark ranked 15th.

JUMPS AND VAULTS
Taylor Hampton's 5.36m long jump earned her 11th.

SPRINTS AND HURDLES
Today's sprinting and hurdles events were prelims, with the finals set for Saturday. 

As noted, Daniel opened the sprints with a 56.29 second time, qualifying for the finals with a seventh place finish. 

In the 100m, Campbell Brown's 12.22 placed her 14th and Jordan Kelly crossed the finish line at 13.48 in 18th. 

In the 100m hurdles, Doll placed 10th with a 15.36, Olivia Fulford ranked 13th with her 15.82 time and Elizabeth Osborne finished 15th with a 17.12.

DISTANCE
Wrapping things up with the 3000m steeplechase, Kathrin Maurer crossed the line at 11:47.15 to place 13th.
