Track and Field Finishes Day One of ASUN Championship in Fifth

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - West Georgia women's track and field wrapped up day one of the ASUN Outdoor Championship in fifth place with 14 points after earning a handful of podiums as well as having multiple Wolves advance to the finals of their respective events. 

Throwers Jaycee Woods and Day Atkins took third place in the javelin and hammer. Chloe Leblanc and Olivia Fulford advanced to championship Saturday with blazing fast 400m hurdle times.

THROWS
Starting off with the hammer throw, Atkins' mark of 49.21m led the Pack and earned her third. Following Atkins, Dru Green claimed seventh with a toss of 45.67m, Kyla Ford took 10th with her 44.81m mark and Madeline Campbell rounded out the Wolves with a 42.78m throw to earn 14th. Atkins' toss earned the team six points and Green's accounted for two. 

After the hammer, UWG competed in the javelin. Leading the way with a toss of 40.03m to earn third place and six points for the team was Woods. Following Woods, Haley Trammell placed ninth with her 29.92m throw and Alexis Doll finished 10th with a 29.12m mark. 

JUMPS AND VAULTS
Fulford's 1.49m high jump ranked her 11th.

SPRINTS AND HURDLES
As noted, in the 400m hurdle prelims, Leblanc and Fulford qualified. Leblanc placed second with a time of 1:01.29 and Fulford placed eighth with a mark of 1:06.45. Elizabeth Osborne crossed at 1:11.93 in 13th position. 

No Wolves qualified for the 200m finals. Campbell Brown placed 16th with a time of 25.24.


HEPTATHLON
Representing the Wolves in the heptathlon today was Alexis Doll. Starting with the 100m hurdles, Doll's 15.57 time placed her in eighth of this event. Following the hurdles, the group of 10 athletes took on the high jump. Doll's best mark of 1.49m earned her sixth. In the third event, the shot put, Doll took fourth on a toss of 9.91m. The senior closed out the day in 10th with 1902 total points following a DQ in the 200m sprint. The group of athletes are set to wrap up the heptathlon tomorrow with the long jump and javelin.
