UWG Wraps Up Fourth-Annual Legends Invitational

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG men's team competed in day two of their home meet, the UWG Legends Invitational, on Saturday, earning victories in both relays to highlight the final day of the event.

One first place finish came in the 4x100m relay team that consisted of Jonathan Meadows, Vaughn Dickenson, Kasahn Rivers, and Gavin Barlow, who were less than a half second off of a 45-year old school record, finishing in 40.51.

Meadows, Rivers, Treyvon Campbell, and Matthew Strickland won the 4x400m relay posting a time of 3:12.71. 

RELAYS
Along with the above team in the 4x100m relay, the "B" team finished eighth and it consisted of Treyvon Campbell, Donavin Butts,  Trevor Fair, and Corey Rooks and they ran a time of 43.14.

Also in the 4x400m relay, the "B" team took fifth with a time of 3:33.59. That team consisted of Kellen Andrews, Richard Griffin, Conner Changizi, and Rooks. There was also a third UWG team that finished seventh, and ran a 3:49.12.

DISTANCE
Griffin Stephens and Noah Anderson led the Wolves in the seeded 5000m race with Stephens time of 15:05.99 good for a third place finish while Anderson placed ninth and crossed the line in 15:40.68. UWG also had 11th, 13th, and 16th place finishes in the race.

In the 800m run, Evan Beasley and Abenezer Woellore took third and fourth respectively. Beasley ran the race in 1:56.95 while Woellore finished in 1:57.12. Solomon Johnson finished in the top-10, running a 1:58.38 to finish 10th.

In the steeplechase, Gabriel Wrye finished third with a time of 10:35.47 

SPRINTS
Kasahn Rivers' eighth place finish led the way for the Wolves in the 100m dash, as he posted a time of 10.74, beating out his teammate Meadows who took 12th with a time of 10.88. Six other Wolves competed in the 100m dash with UWG posting 18th, 22nd, 27th, 40th, 46th, and 48th-place finishes.

Only one Wolf competed in the large field in the 200m dash, with Landon Chovanic taking 31st and posting a time of 22.93.

Matthew Strickland added a podium finish for the Wolves in the 400m dash, taking third with a time of 47.57. Treyvon Campbell was the next Wolf down the results page in the 400m, running the race in 48.79 to finish eighth.

HURDLES
In the 100m hurdles, Chovanic crossed the line at 15.51 in sixth place, Ishmael Neblett recorded a time of 15.76 to earn 10th and Kellen Andrews crossed at 15.95 in 12th. 

JUMPS AND VAULT
Four Wolves finished inside the top 10 in the pole vault, led by Connor McClain placing fourth with a mark of 4.78m. Shea Thiewes took fifth clearing 4.48m, followed by 3.88m clearance by Samuel Hall. Rhett Howard cleared 3.58m and took ninth. Kellen Andrews also competed in the pole vault and took 11th place.

In the long jump, UWG had a fourth place finish from Gavin Barlow and Godsfavor Adenuga took fifth. Barlow jumped 7.25m while Adenuga's top mark was 7.19m. The Wolves also got top-10s from Ryane Martin who jumped 6.92m to finish eighth and William Shawley who placed ninth with a leap of 6.75m.

Isaiah McMichael was the lone representative in the high jump, clearing 1.95m to finish second place.

THROWS
Nicholas Lane led the Wolves in the discus, launching the implement 41.30m on his third attempt to finish in third place. Kelechi Ihekwereme placed 11th, posting his best throw 37.48m in his second attempt.

Record Update: It was brought to our attention today that the javelin's construction was altered in 1986, meaning our posted Javelin record from 1964 was with the old style implement. Therefore, Conner Changizi's of 49.08m was a modern javelin record at UWG.

UP NEXT
UWG will now compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 18-19 in Atlanta, Georgia.
