5/13/2025 12:03:00 PM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia men's and women's track and field teams hit the road this week to compete in the 2025 ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

Below are just some of the UWG athletes representing the red and blue down in Florida.

THROWS
Coming off of a record-breaking discus performance and expected to compete this week is Day Atkins. At the Life U Last Chance Meet, Atkins' mark of 48.15m was not only the best throw by an ASUN athlete this season, it was also the furthest by a UWG athlete in program history. Throughout the season, the women throwers have been one of the most competitive units for West Georgia.

Looking at the men's side, Conner Changizi is expected to compete in the javelin this weekend. Changzi's mark of 49.08m at the UWG Legends Meet set the West Georgia javelin record and placed him fifth in the ASUN for the best throw this season.

JUMPS
Another UWG athlete who ranks in the top-10 in their respective event and is expected to compete this weekend is Haley Trammell. At the Georgia Tech Invitational, Trammell's 11.84m triple jump was the second best mark by an ASUN athlete this year.

For the men, Godsfavor Adenuga and Gavin Barlow's best long jumps of 7.56m and 7.37m place the pair of Wolves in first and second in the conference. These two, along with a whole host of West Georgia athletes are expected to jump this weekend. Like with the women's throwers, the UWG men's jumpers have been one of the strongest units on the team with multiple Wolves placing in the top-10 in their respective events.

VAULTS
In the pole vault, Carleigh Bynum looks to end her stellar season with a statement showing down in Florida. Earlier this year, Bynum earned ASUN Outdoor Field Performer of the Week after breaking the UWG vault record with a mark of 3.75m, the second best vault by an ASUN athlete this season.

At the same home meet, Connor McLain cleared 4.78m in the pole vault to record the top mark in the conference this year, and earn himself ASUN Field Performer of the Week. Just behind McLain with a 4.48m mark is Shea Thieaves. Both are expected to compete this week.

RELAYS
Looking at the relay teams, the 4x100m squad's best time of 47.28 places them sixth in the conference. The 4x400m's time of 3:57.28 was the fifth fastest time in the ASUN this season.

The UWG men's 4x100m team's fastest time this season was 40.51, the second-best time in the conference. The 4x400m team also places second in the league with a top mark of 3:12.71.

All four of these teams are expected to compete this week.

SPRINTS
Moving to the individual sprints, one UWG athlete with their sights set on finishing her solid freshman season off with a bang is Tykendra Daniel. At the Bulldog Relays, Daniel's 400m time of 56.00 was sixth-fastest time in the ASUN this season, earning her ASUN Freshman of the Week.

On the men's side, Kasahn Rivers is one of the top UWG competitors taking on the ASUN Championship this weekend. Rivers' record-breaking 200m time of 21.09 was the third fastest mark in the conference this season.

HURDLES
At the Wolves' most recent team meet, Chloe Leblanc set a new UWG 400m hurdles record with the second fastest time by an ASUN athlete this season on a mark of 1:01.22. This performance earned her ASUN Field Performer of the Week.

For the men, Jonathan Meadows' 52.53 400m hurdles time at the UWG Legends Meet broke the school record that was set 41 years ago (1984). This was the fourth-fastest time by an ASUN athlete this season.

These two are expected to compete alongside fellow Wolves.

DISTANCE
The final group of athletes competing this week is the distance runners. One Wolf running in Florida is Kathrin Maurer. At the GT Invitational, Maurer's 11:33.66 steeplechase time broke a nine-year-old school record.

For the men, Griffin Stephens is expected to race in the 5000m this weekend. At the UWG Legends Meet, Stephens took third in the seeded 5000m with a time of 15:05.99.
