CARROLLTON, Ga. - When September rolls around, the UWG men's golf team will embark on year two of the Division I era, and today the program announced its 2025-26 schedule.
The Wolves will play four times in the fall before five events in the spring prelude the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships in late April.
Head coach Shannon Lipham's team opens the season on September 22-23 at the GMAC Invitational hosted by UAB at Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Alabama. Lipham is thrilled about the opening tournament of what amounts to an incredible schedule in year two of the new era of UWG golf.
"One of the most important things for us was strengthening our schedule going forward. We added two new events in the fall to go along with a pair of return trips to tournaments we competed in last season," said Lipham. "As we continue to grow as a program we need to be competing against the best possible competition, and I feel like we made a big step in that regard for this season's schedule."
Following that event, the Wolves take on the field at the Ironwood Intercollegiate to close out September. October 13-14 takes the Wolves back to the Pinetree Invitational, an event they placed second at in 2024, in Kennesaw.
The fall portion of the schedule concludes at the FAU Golf Invitational on October 27-28 at Panther National Golf Club, which was ranked the 12th-best golf course in the state of Florida by Golf Digest in 2025.
The 2026 calendar year takes the Wolves to the Savannah Collegiate in late February and the Surf Club Invitational in Myrtle Beach on March 9-10.
On March 20-22, the Wolves are in the field at the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters Golf Club on Lake Oconee. Entering its 21st year, the Linger Longer Invitational is one of the premier men's collegiate events in the nation. Past players in the Linger Longer Invitational include Justin Thomas (Alabama, 2009), Rickie Fowler (Oklahoma State, 2009), and Scottie Scheffler (Texas, 2015). In total, LLI alumni include PGA Tour players with combined earnings of over $300 million and 60-plus PGA Tour victories.
"Getting invited to play in the Linger Longer Invitational is massive for our program. It will be the first time we get to compete against Power Four schools that we are all familiar with," said Lipham. "Georgia and Alabama have won it in the last two years and Clemson, South Carolina were in the field last year."
"It will be a good litmus test to see how we stack up against the very best in the country. The cherry on top is getting to play the Great Waters layout at Reynolds on Lake Oconee. It's one of the premier golf courses in the south, and that week is definitely circled for us as a program," Lipham added.
The Great Waters course at Reynolds is ranked the 19th-best course in Georgia by Golf Digest and was in the publication's top-100 public courses in the country in 2025.
The final two tournaments before the ASUN Championships are the Golfweek Invitational in Pawleys Island, South Carolina on April 6-8 and the Bluegrass Collegiate in Lexington, Kentucky on April 13-14.
The ASUN Championships are once again at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta and are slated for April 21-23.
UWG men's golf looks to improve on an inaugural Division I season that saw numerous bright spots, and Lipham is excited about the potential that the 2025-26 season holds.
"We were one of the youngest golf teams in the country last year. Having a year of college under their belt and the hard work that has been put in this offseason," Lipham concluded. "I am expecting a big improvement from the guys."
