Women's Golf Heads to Jonesboro for Lady Red Wolves Classic

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Just two tournaments remain in the fall portion of UWG women's golf's schedule and this weekend the Wolves make the trip to Jonesboro, Arkansas for the Lady Red Wolves Classic.

It's a return to Sage Meadows Country Club where the Wolves set 18-hole and 54-hole school scoring records in last year's Lady Red Wolves Classic hosted by Arkansas State.

This year, head coach Will Snodgrass' lineup features three golfers who were in the lineup a season ago when records fell. Sophie Dhaliwal will anchor the lineup after finishing 25th at this event last season. Emma Baier, who is in the two spot this season, also finished 25th last season at Sage Meadows. Both Dhaliwal and Baier were under par in round two in which UWG set the 18-hole school record with a 283.

Sofia Mondragon was also in Jonesboro last year, shooting a final round 71, and is in the fourth spot behind Anna Olesen in the three hole. Rounding out the lineup is freshman Myla Rookard who makes her second career start.

Thus far this season, UWG has a fourth-place finish and a pair of third place finishes and looks to build on that momentum into this week.

There's 13 teams competing on Monday and Tuesday at Sage Meadows Country Club. The Wolves are joined by three additional UAC teams with Little Rock, Austin Peay, and Central Arkansas making the trip to Jonesboro. UAB, Troy, Illinois State, Murray State, Samford, Memphis, Southern Illinois, Morehead State, and tournament host Arkansas State round out the field.

The Wolves will play a practice round on Sunday before opening play on Monday with the first two of three rounds. The final round is set for Tuesday.
