CARROLLTON, Ga. - After a short stint at home, the UWG women's basketball team is back on the road on Saturday, taking on the Austin Peay Governors in a 3 p.m. EST tipoff from Clarksville, Tennessee on February 14.
West Georgia (15-9, 8-5 ASUN) fell for just the second time at home all season on Wednesday, and now take to the road to take on Austin Peay (14-9, 6-7 ASUN) team that is 4-7 at home this season, but most recently routed Queens at F&M Bank, 85-47, on Thursday night.
Last time out, UWG dropped a game to North Alabama, but had for scorers in double-figured led by Grace O'Gara with 18. The Wolves got 14 from Destiny Jones, and 12 each from Sydne Tolbert and Jasmie Jones.
Destiny Jones also had 12 rebounds in the loss, and is playing some of her best basketball of the season. It was her third straight double-double and seventh of the season. Jones is second in the ASUN in rebounding, averaging 8.3 rebounds per game.
Asia Donald is UWG's leading scorer, but by the slimmest margin. Donald averages 14.3 points per game while Jasmine Jones averages 14.2. Jones is sixth in all of Division I in three-pointers per game, hitting 3.13 per game.
Austin Peay is second in the ASUN in socring defense, allowing 58.6 points per game. Offensively, Anovia Sheals leads APSU with 13.6 per game, and is tied with the Wolves' Sydne Tolbert for seventh in the conference.
APSU's rebound leader is Lameria Thomas who pulls down 7.2 rebounds per game.
These two teams have yet to meet in 2025-26, although a season ago, they played three times. UWG won both regular season matchups before Austin Peay spoiled the Wolves debut in the ASUN Tournament in Fort Myers, Florida.
Heading into this matchup, UWG is one of five teams currently at 8-5 in conference play while Austin Peay is 6-7. All 12 teams will make the 2025-26 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, held in Jacksonville, Florida from March 3-9. The top four seeds earn a first round by while seeds 5 through 12 will play on March 3 to open the tourney. UWG's five-way tie is currently for third place in the standings.
UWG and Austin Peay will top-off from F&M Bank Arena at 3 p.m. EST in Clarksville. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
