CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG women's golf team has waited nearly four months to return to action, and the time is finally here as the Wolves travel to DeBary Country Club in DeBary, Florida next week for the Babs Steffens Invitational.
West Georgia, who had a phenomenal fall season, will look to carry that momentum into the fall. Head coach Will Snodgrass' Wolves finished the fall season ranked 162nd in the country, third in the ASUN, and finished in the top three in three out of six events in the fall.
Snodgrass will send the same five that produced the stellar fall into play at DeBary Country Club on Monday. Sofia Mondragon will be in the top spot, followed by Hannah Barrett who led the Wolves in scoring in the fall. The junior from Richmond Hill, Georgia averaged 73.12 over 17 rounds in the fall.
In the three hole in the lineup is Anna Olesen with Sophie Dhaliwal in the fourth spot and Emma Baier in the final spot. Baier, who played in five of the six fall tournament, is second in scoring average at 74.47 over 15 rounds.
UWG is one of 16 teams in the field, joining North Alabama and tournament host Stetson as the Atlantic Sun Conference representatives. West Georgia is joined by Georgia State in representing the Peach State.
