DeBARY, Fla. - The UWG women's golf team got back in action on Monday, playing the first two of three rounds of the Babs Steffens Invitational. The Wolves shot rounds of 307 and 304 and sit in fourth place with 18 holes to play.
Two Wolves are in the top-10 individually as Hannah Barrett ended day one in a fifth-place tie while Anna Olesen is tied for ninth.
As a team, the Wolves are 28 shots out of first place, currently held by tournament host Stetson. UWG is 11 shots outside of the top three heading into Tuesday's action.
Barrett and Olesen paced the Wolves in round one with 75s to open. Barrett made three birdies in her first round while Olesen made just four bogeys and 14 pars to shoot four-over on the par-71 layout of DeBary Country Club.
In the second round, Barrett rolled in three birdies once again, but limited the squares on the scorecard and finished one-over. Olesen fired a second-straight round of 75, making one birdie on her afternoon 18.
Sofia Mondragon opened with a 78 before a one-stroke improvement in the second round. The sophomore is in a 25th-place tie individually.
Freshman Sophie Dhaliwal shot back-to-back rounds of 79 on Monday and sits in a 36th-place tie.
Rounding out the lineup was Emma Baier who is in a 48th-place tie with 18 holes remaining. Baier shot an 82 in round one and carded an 80 in the second.
UWG trails Stetson, who is atop the leaderboard, App State in second, and Keiser, the top-ranked team in NAIA, in third.
The Wolves are back at DeBary Country Club on Tuesday to wrap up the Babs Steffens Invitational.
