DeBARY, Fla. - The women's golf team finished fifth place in their first tournament of the spring season on Tuesday, shooting a 305 in the final round of the Babs Steffems Invitational.
The final round was the lowest round of the tournament for the Wolves, improving each round at DeBary Country Club. The Wolves finished fifth behind tournament host Stetson, App State, Keiser, the top-ranked NAIA team in America, and UNC Asheville.
Junior Hannah Barrett was the top finisher on the leaderboard for UWG, shooting a final round 78 to finish 12th. Barrett rolled in two birdies in her final round. Just three shots behind her was Anna Olesen who also made two birdies and shot a 79 on Tuesday to finish tied for 16th.
The low round of the day came from freshman Sophie Dhaliwal as she fired a 74 with three birdies on the day. Dhaliwal tied for 24th individually, as did her teammate Sofia Mondragon who ended her tournament with a Tuesday 77.
Emma Baier wrapped up her week with a 76 and tied for 46th.
Of note on the team leaderboard, UWG finished 13 strokes ahead of Georgia State who entered play ranked higher than UWG in the Clippd Scoreboard Rankings, and were 25 strokes ahead of fellow ASUN member North Alabama.
The Wolves are back in action on March 8-9 at RTJ Silver Lakes at Jax State's Chris Banister Golf Classic.
