2/26/2026 4:00:00 PM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - In the midst of a 13-game road stretch, West Georgia baseball stays in Alabama to take on the South Alabama Jaguars in a three-game series this weekend. First pitch on Friday is set for 7:30 p.m., and the streaming and live stat links are tagged on the Wolves baseball schedule.

Currently riding an eight-game losing streak, UWG (1-8) looks to secure their first win since the season-opener against the Jaguars (6-3), who have fallen in two of the last three games.

Friday's game marks the first time the Wolves have gone head-to-head with South Alabama.

Expected to make his first start on the mound since the season-opener on Friday is redshirt senior Luke Ridley. In his first UWG start, Ridley secured a win, struck out seven Central Michigan batters and allowed three earned runs through five frames on the mound. Those seven strikeouts is the game-high for any UWG pitcher this year.

Game two will see sophomore righty Wilson Donnelly make his third start of the season. Through 7.2 frames across two games, Donnelly posts a 0-1 record, 7.04 ERA and four strikeouts.

Closing out the series for UWG will be senior righty Lex Kenny, who is making his third start and fourth appearance. Accumulating 11 innings through four appearances, Kenny has recorded an 0-1 record, a 4.91 ERA and four strikeouts.

South Alabama is still undecided on who they will start this weekend on the mound.

Coming off his first start of the season is center fielder Blake Bradford. Against No. 7 Auburn, Bradford led the Wolves with three hits, bringing his season total to seven. Currently, he leads the team (if you include non-starters) with a .700 batting average, .700 on-base percentage and 1.000 slugging rate.

If you are just talking about the Wolves who meet the two plate appearances per game minimum, Gabe Wuerth posts a team-high .345 batting average and a best .923 OPS fueled by a UWG-high .406 on-base percentage.

For USA, the Jaguars are led by second baseman and leadoff hitter Brennon Wright, who boasts a team-best .424 batting average, a .537 on-base percentage and a 1.022 OPS. Looking at his game logs, Wright has gone cold at the plate in the latest two games, recording one hit and in six at-bats.

It is not just Wright who is coming off a cold night at the plate. In the Jaguars' 15-2 loss at Tulane, USA was held to a season-low one hit. Notably, the next lowest hits total the Jaguars have been held to this season was eight.

As a team, UWG has recorded a .241 batting average and has scored an average of 4.4 runs per game. Their opponents have recorded a .279 batting average and have totaled 7.88 runs per game. USA bats at a slightly higher .288 average and have scored eight runs per game. They have allowed their opponents to bat at a .267 average and score 6.3 runs per game.
