Three UWG Records Fall on Day One of ASUN Indoor Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The University of West Georgia women's track and field team opened competition at the ASUN Indoor Championships with three UWG record breaking performances, four personal bests, and one podium finish, and currently sit eighth in the team standings with 11 points. 

Field Events
The day began in the pole vault, where Carleigh Bynum narrowly missed the podium with a clearance of 3.56m, finishing just outside the top three.

In the long jump, Kierra McKenna led UWG with a mark of 4.70m, followed by Genesis Price at 4.19m.

The weight throw delivered the Wolves' lone podium finish of the day as Dru Green recorded a personal best throw of 17.08m to earn third place. Day Atkins added a strong 15.79m effort, while Kyla Ford followed with a 15.00m mark.

Running Events
Distance standout Reatta Danhof broke the UWG school record and her own personal best with a time of 5:04.10 to qualify for Saturday's final.

In the 60m hurdles, McKenna returned to the track to lead the Wolves with a time of 9.33, followed by Valeyna Renteria-Silva at 9.62.

The 400m saw another record fall as Ty Daniel broke her own UWG record with a time of 55.60, finishing fourth overall.

In the 60m dash, Kellie Walker posted a personal best time of 7.66 to lead UWG with a 10th place finish. Campbell Brown followed at 7.71, while Price added another personal best with a time of 8.10.

The 800m featured yet another record breaking moment as Linda Rivero recorded a personal best and broke the UWG school record with a time of 2:23.10.

Walker capped her day in the 200m by breaking her own UWG record with a time of 24.81, narrowly missing qualification for the finals. Brown finished in 25.98, while Lia Long added a personal best mark of 26.31.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Jordan Jarnot, Elise Duncanson, Linda Rivero, and Catherine Greer combined for a time of 13:16.50 to close out day one.

With multiple finals still ahead, the Wolves look to surge up the standings on Saturday as the ASUN Indoor Championships continue.
