Danhof and Rivero Set School Records at UAB Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Highlighted by record-breaking runs by Reatta Danhof and Linda Rivero, the West Georgia women's track and field team put together a strong showing today at the UAB Invite at the Birmingham CrossPlex. 

Danhof's mile time of 5:07.37 not only earned her fourth out of 37 competitors, it crushed her recently set UWG mile record of 15:19.26. Rivero was the second distance runner to etch her name into the West Georgia record book today with her blistering time of 2:27.03 in the 800m. This broke Joycelyn Tifrea's record set back in 2022.

DISTANCE
In the 600m, the Wolves lone representative, Chloe Leblanc, recorded a 1:40.74 to place 12th out of 32 competitors.

Following Rivero's 800m record-breaking run was Jordan Jarnot in 24th with a time of 2:35.35 and Linda Vasquez in 30th recording a 2:41.49.

Recording a 5:42.78 and placing 28th in the one miler was Kristal McQueen. Laney Pierce earned 32nd with her 5:49.91.

Crossing the line at 10:52.74, Kathrin Maurer placed 13th in the 3000m, followed by Catherine Greer at 11:05.50 in 18th and Madeline Gaskin in in 27th with a 12:09.22,

SPRINTS AND HURDLES
In the 60m prelims, Lila Long recorded an 8.07 to earn 39th and Genesis Price crossed at 8.25 to place 46th.

Of the three Wolves racing in the 60m hurdle prelims, Kierra McKenna led the Pack with a 9.38 to finish 20th. Valeyna Renteria-Silva and Empress Malone followed in 24th and 27th on times of 9.73 and 9.85.

Ty Daniel led the Wolves in the 200m, crossing the line at 25.95 in 35th. Leblanc crossed next at 26.44 in 44th.

Daniel also led the way in 400m with a 57.99 to place 17th. Jaeva Ridley followed with a 1:05.00 in 42nd.

RELAY
Recording a 4:15.59 in the 4x400m relay to earn 11th was Daniel, Leblanc, McKenna and Long

THROWS
Moving to the field, Day Atkins led in the shot put with a 13.69m throw to place third overall. Dru Green followed in 18th with an 11.06m throw. 

In the weight throw, Green's 16.78m throw earned her fifth and Atkins placed seventh with a 16.38m throw. 

JUMPS AND VAULTS
McKenna and Price competed in the long jump with the former placing 31st with a jump of 4.43m and the latter placing 33rd with a 4.26m jump. 

Alyvia Matthews placed eighth overall in the triple on her 11.45m jump. 

In the high jump, Bella Jones earned sixth overall on a leap of 1.55m. 

Carleigh Bynum led the way for UWG in the pole vault, placing seventh with a best mark of 3.47m. Mallory Peavey followed with a mark of 3.02m to earn 11th.

The Wolves take on the Tyron Mid-Winter Collegiate Invitational next weekend (Feb. 13-14) to close out the Indoor Track and Field regular season.
