CARROLLTON, Ga- After falling short against Jacksonville in their last matchup, the Wolves look to bounce back on the road Saturday against the North Florida Ospreys.
West Georgia (14-8, 7-4 ASUN) aims to complete the season sweep of UNF (8-14, 3-8 ASUN) after defeating the Ospreys 76-61 in the City of Dreams on January 8.
In their last outing UWG fell short against JU 82-61, where the Wolves saw four players in double figures in
Asia Donald with 15,
Destiny Jones tallying 14,
Grace O'Gara and
Sydne Tolbert both scoring 10 each.
The Ospreys are coming off a home loss to the Stetson Hatters 74-56 with Alonya Waldon and Elle Blatchford contributing with 12 points.
The last time the Wolves and Ospreys met on the hardwood, UWG had three players in double figures with
Jasmine Jones pouring in 22 points,
Sydne Tolbert dropping 19, and
Destiny Jones with 12.
North Florida's Alonya Waldon was the stand-alone double-digit scorer for the Ospreys with 24 points and also attributing five steals.
As the Wolves prepare for UNF, this matchup has potential conference tournament implications. The Wolves are currently locked in a four-way tie for second place with Jacksonville, Stetson, and Florida Gulf Coast at 7-4 in conference play. However, they hold the tiebreaker over both Stetson and FGCU, making this game pivotal as they look to solidify their conference seeding.
West Georgia and North Florida will tip-off on Saturday at UNF Arena at 2:00 pm.
