GLENCOE, Ala. - A final round 303 sent the UWG women's golf team vaulting up the leaderboard for a second straight day, putting the Wolves in a sixth-place tie when all was said and done at the Chris Banister Golf Classic at RTJ Silver Lakes.
The Wolves were in 12th place following round one, and climbed three spots in round two, and another three spots on the final day for another positive result from the Wolves and head coach Will Snodgrass.
"We went on a sick birdie barrage and then made a few late bogeys in the wind that cost us a top-five, but in the end it was another great result," said Snodgrass after the round.
As a team, UWG combined for six birdies on the back nine of the par-72 layout.
Leading the Wolves in the event was freshman Sophie Dhaliwal who made one of those birdies on the back nine and finished with an even-par 72 to finish a career-best 18th place individually.
Sophomore Sophia Mondragon had a final round 78 and finished in 23rd place, and was followed by Emma Baier. The junior from Ecuador finished her event with a third round 77 on Tuesday and placed 31st.
Junior Hannah Barrett made three of the Wolves' six birdies on the back side, rolling in consecutive birdies on holes 11, 12, and 13. Barrett finished with a 76, improving each round and finishing in 39th place.
Anna Olesen posted a final round 80 putting the sophomore in 63rd place.
UWG will travel again next week, heading to Mobile, Alabama for the Magnolia Intercollegiate at another stop on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Magnolia Grove. The event, hosted by South Alabama, features two rounds on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.
