CARROLLTON, Ga. - Conference play has arrived for the UWG Softball Team as the Wolves host the Jacksonville Dolphins this weekend for the Atlantic Sun Conference opener in Carrollton.
THE SCHEDULE
THE WOLVES
West Georgia (8-18, 0-0 ASUN) comes into conference play dropping three straight, but will look to get off to a good start in league play and see if they can roll that into some momentum midway through March. Last season, the Wolves won their ASUN opener, and then dropped their next 12 league games.
Back to 2026, the Wolves are coming off a midweek loss to the nation's number 13 team, Georgia, a game in which the Bulldogs limited UWG to just three hits.
Jenna Samuel and Ella Oswalt continue to lead the Wolves in hitting, with Samuel's .438 average ranking eighth in the ASUN. Samuel has 32 hits with nine for extra bases and leads the team with 23 RBIs. Oswalt, who did not play in the Wolves' trip to UGA, is batting .301 with 17 RBIs. She has 22 total hits including seven doubles, a triple, and a team-best six home runs.
The Wolves have been active on the basepaths, ranking third in the ASUN in stolen bases with 36. Zekylah Boyd leads the Wolves with seven stolen bases while Megan Waites and Mickey Coslor each have six.
UWG's pitching staff is led by Calli Hardison, who made her ninth start of the season on Tuesday at UGA. The senior has a 4.68 ERA over 52.1 innings pitched with a team-high 30 strikeouts.
The only other pitchers above the minimum line of one IP per game are Cacie Cutright and Delaney Hoyle. Cutright has a 5.55 GPA while Hoyle, who is second on the team in starts with five, has a 6.00 ERA.
THE DOLPHINS
Jacksonville (15-11, 0-0 ASUN) rolls into Carrollton after back-to-back wins, defeating Brown in the final two games of the Jacksonville Spring Break Challenge.
Four JU batters are hitting over .300, led by Sarah Beth Brake at .407. Brake leads the Dolphins with six doubles, six home runs, and 21 RBIs. Second in RBIs for the Dolphins is Kate Linkletter with 15, and is batting .383. Jaida Thomas is batting .360 with 13 RBIs and a team-high eight stolen bases while Alison Carter is hitting .340, also with 13 RBIs.
In the circle, JU has the advantage with a 4.36 ERA. The Dolphins ace is Jacy Harrelson who is 8-5 with a 2.96 ERA over 78.0 innings pitched. Jordan White has tossed 45.2 innings and has a 4.75 ERA.
THE SERIES
Jacksonville is 3-0 all-time against the Wolves as the two teams only met in one series in 2025. The Dolphins outscored the Wolves 20-8 in three games in Carrollton last season.
