CARROLLTON, Ga. - UWG softball is on the road this weekend, continuing ASUN conference play with a three-game series at Queens on Saturday and Sunday.
THE SCHEDULE
West Georgia (10-19, 2-1 ASUN) looks to continue its momentum gained after taking two of three from Jacksonville at home in the opening weekend of league play. It was just the second conference series win of the Division I era, and now they return to Charlotte, the site of their first-ever ASUN series win in 2025. They will face a Queens (7-16, 0-3 ASUN) team that was swept by FGCU to open their league slate.
The JU series was extremely tightly contested with UWG soutscoring the Dolphins 9-8 in the three games. All three games featured the winning team scoring four runs and the final two games of the series were both 4-1 decisions. In game one, UWG won 4-3 over Jacksonville and it was the eighth one-run game through 29 on the season. The Wolves are 4-4 in one-run games.
Jenna Samuel is UWG's top hitter with a .436 average. the junior from Slidell hit homers four and five of the season last weekend against JU, and has 26 RBIs on the season. She ranks ninth in the ASUN in that category and is seventh in average.
UWG's pitching staff had probably their best weekend of the season last weekend, allowing eight earned runs over the three games combined, giving up five hits per game. The Wolves struck out 11 Dolphins collectively and also issued 11 walks.
Calli Hardison leads the Wolves in ERA with a 4.48 mark after tossing a complete game victory in game one against Jacksonville. The senior has 35 strikeouts in 59.1 innings pitched.
In the next two games of the series, UWG got a complete game victory from Cacie Cutright in which she gave up one run on five hits. Samuel then pitched a complete game and got a tough luck loss in which she surrendered four runs on five hits.
Queens is led offensively by the trio of Sage Farmer, Lindsay Henson, and Olivia Thornton. Farmer is batting .440 while Henson is the big bat in the lineup. She is batting .437 with the league's third-most home runs, 11 and 31 RBIs. Thornton is batting .397 with 11 extra-base hits and 21 RBIs.
The Royals' pitching staff has been struggling as they have a team ERA of 7.03. Addison Kluck has thrown the majority of the innings, amassing 71.1 innings in 11 starts. She has a 5.30 ERA and is 5-6. Kluck pitched 9.1 innings of the FGCU series, and gave up 10 earned runs.
The Wolves and Royals will square off three times this weekend in Charlotte. Saturday's DH is set to be broadcast on ESPN+.
