After being on the wrong end of an ASUN sweep, the Wolves (11-29, 8-10 ASUN) look to get back on track this week when they take on KSU (17-19, 7-11 CUSA), a team that beat UWG 9-4 earlier this season. That loss put West Georgia's all-time head-to-head record at 19-17 against the Owls.
Neither team has announced who they are starting on Tuesday. Currently, UWG posts an 8.45 team ERA, while the Owls post a 6.38 ERA.
In the last midweek matchup vs KSU, UWG went with senior righty Gavin Mask. In eight appearances, Mask has tallied a 0-1 record, 13.94 ERA and seven strikeouts this season. Another pitcher UWG may give the starting nod to is redshirt sophomore Gunnar Plante. Starting in the latest midweek, the righty has recorded an 0-2 record, 17.00 ERA and seven strikeouts through his seven appearances.
For the Owls, KSU started sophomore righty Cole Royer in the last clash vs UWG. Appearing in seven games this year, Royer has posted a 1-0 record, 14.63 ERA and nine strikeouts. Another Owl pitcher who the Wolves might face on Tuesday is redshirt junior Nate Helman. Through 10 appearances, the midweek pitcher has recorded a 1-0 record, 5.09 ERA and 25 strikeouts.
At the plate, UWG has posted a .258 batting average, .346 on-base percentage and a .396 slugging percentage. KSU has tallied a .268 batting average, .364 on-base percentage and a .419 slugging percentage.Â
Designated hitter Andon Lewis is coming off another great week at the plate. Not only did Lewis extend his hitting streak to a team-high 13 games, but the senior also knocked two homers out of the park in this stretch. Lewis now leads the team with nine homers and 35 RBIs, which ranks him tenth in the ASUN in RBIs.
On the other side, KSU has been led by outfielder Cooper Williams at the plate. Despite going hit-less in the last two games, Williams still leads the Owls in hits (46), multi-hit games (17) and batting average (.329). Outside of the last two performances, Williams recorded multiple hits in six of the last nine games.Â
