Maurer Sets Program Record During Day One in Starkville

STARKVILLE, MS.- West Georgia finished day one of the Maroon and White Tune Up with five top-five finishes and a UWG record through three events, setting the tone for day two in Starkville.

Day Atkins got things started for the Wolves with a first-place finish in the hammer throw, recording a mark of 51.18m. Dru Green and Kyla Ford followed with throws of 48.26m to tie for fifth, while Leilah Mathieu rounded out the group with a mark of 41.83m. In the discus, Atkins once again led UWG with a throw of 43.09m, followed by Green at 39.45m. Mathieu recorded a mark of 36.20m, while Adriana Hale finished with a throw of 31.45m.

Kathrin Maurer shined with a third-place finish in the 5000m, crossing the line in 18:11.88 to set a new UWG record. Catherine Greer followed with a time of 18:24.29 to secure fifth place, while Haley Hartman finished in 19:21.80 and was the second-fastest freshman in the event.
