CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia Department of Athletics announced today the appointment of Elizabeth Herrin to the role of Chief of Staff.  

Herrin, a two-time UWG alumna, has been a member of the Athletics staff since 2019 and for the past three years has held the title of Assistant Athletics Director for Annual Initiatives. 

"We are excited to transition Elizabeth into this important role within our department. Her keen awareness of, seemingly, all things organizational in nature, as well as her insatiable desire to achieve outcomes, will be powerful tools for our department in this role," said Director of Athletics Jason Carmichael. "This position will be a force multiplier for our overall operation increasing our efficiency and, most importantly, our ability to serve our coaches and student-athletes at a high level." 

As Chief of Staff, Herrin will work closely with the senior leadership team, coaches, service team units, and campus partners to help connect work across multiple functional areas. She will be also responsible for tracking key NCAA Division I transition priorities, as well as coordinating special projects.

Herrin will assume her new role officially on Monday, August 3. 

A native of nearby Tallapoosa, Herrin has also served UWG Athletics in other roles prior to 2023. She initially began as an administrative assistant for UWG football before transitioning to the Coordinator of Competitive Excellence role and later the Annual Initiatives position. 

Herrin holds a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Business Management from UWG where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was inducted into the International Business Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma. In 2022, Herrin completed her Masters of Business Administration.
