Wolves Lose Thriller in Coliseum Return

CARROLLTON, Ga. - For the fifth consecutive game, the UWG men's basketball team held a double-digit lead against an opponent, but a first-half run from North Georgia Saturday at The Coliseum saw that lead disappear as the Wolves fell 71-68 in the first game at home since November 20.

The Wolves came out hot in this one, building a 20-10 lead in the first eight minutes of the game, as the 20th point of the game came on a Kovi Tate layup with 11:54 left in the first half. Over the next nearly four minutes, the Nighthawks erased that lead, going on a 12-2 run and tying the contest at 22-22 with 8:13 left in the period. That run continued, as North Georgia led 40-35 heading into the locker room at the half.

In the second half, the Wolves went on a run, outscoring North Georgia by a 17-11 margin over the first nine minutes of the second half, and a three-pointer from Greg James with 11:10 left in the game gave West Georgia a 52-50 lead. In that final 11 minutes of the contest, the Wolves led for 10 minutes, but the final made basket from the field for UWG came with just over three minutes left on a layup from Seth Brown-Carter, giving West Georgia a 67-63 advantage. The Nighthawks closed the game with an 8-1 run to hand the Wolves the narrow loss.

Brown-Carter led the Wolves on the afternoon with 22 points and nine rebounds, followed by Kovi Tate with 14 points and six boards. The Wolves will be off for the next 10 days for finals and will play next against Montevallo in The Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. on December 17.
