Wolves Travel to Birmingham to Face Miles College

Carrollton, GA - After sweeping the series against Shorter College this weekend, the Wolves head to Birmingham, AL to take on Miles College for the second time this year. The game will be played at Rickwood Field on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

Previous Matchup
The last time these two teams met was back on February 5 in Carrollton, GA. The Wolves were able to take home the easy victory by a score of 16-0 in a game that UWG racked up fifteen hits and had four different players with multi-hit games. Jamie Sexton also came away with the win, only allowing two hits and striking out six batters through five innings of work.

Wolves at a Glance
West Georgia comes into Thursday's game with an overall record of 10-15 and a 5-6 Gulf South Conference record. The team will look to continue to stay hot and win their third game in a row heading into more GSC play this weekend against West Florida. After suffering from many different injuries throughout the year, the Wolves are back healthy and determined to get things back on track.

Golden Bears at a Glance
Miles College comes into the game with an 11-10 overall record and a 6-3 SIAC conference record. They are also coming off a good weekend, sweeping Morehouse College in a three-game series and outscoring their opponent 42-24. Miles hasn't played well against the GSC this year with a record of 0-3, losing against West Georgia, West Alabama, and Alabama-Huntsville.

Wolves Offense
The Wolves raised their team batting average three points up to .247 after the two games against Shorter College. JoJo Underwood also joined Shaquille Jackson in getting his batting average up above the .300 mark. Underwood is hitting .307 and is second on the team with eleven RBI. Jackson is still leading the team with a .361 average and also in hits with thirty. The team also has a very impressive stolen base percentage of nearly an 84% success rate. Shortstop Troy Brown leads the team, as he is a perfect 11-for-11.

Golden Bears Offense
Miles has hit fairly well batting .292 in the 2014 season. Sophomore, Chase Williams, leads the Golden Bears with an impressive .435 batting average. Williams has played in all 21 games this year and not only leads the team with 37 hits, but also leads the team with 18 RBI. Justin Langdale is another player for the Wolves to keep their eye on. Langdale is multi-talented, as he has hit in all 21 games, but has also made 7 appearances on the hill. Offensively, he is hitting .315 and is second on the team in hits.

Wolves Pitching
Heading into Thursday, the Wolves team ERA is 4.14. Because of the conference weekend that follows this week's game, expect to see a few different UWG pitchers on the mound. One pitcher who could throw against Miles College is Colton Duttweiler. Duttweiler is 2-1 on the year with a 3.34 ERA and has 21 strikeouts to just 9 walks. Cole Janousek may also make an appearance in the game. Janousek has also pitched well this year, completing a game this year and having a 3.92 ERA.

Golden Bears Pitching
Miles has given up an abundant amount of runs this year of defense. They have surrendered 224 runs to just the 183 they have scored as team. However, Langdale has pitched well for the Golden Bears, as he is 2-2 with a 2.91 ERA through two starts. Another pitcher the Wolves may see on the hill for Miles is Dylan Shelton. Shelton has started in three games this year and is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA. Although, he has shown some command issues as he has walked eleven batters to just striking out eight.
