Carrollton, GA - After a solid win this Wednesday against Stillman College by a final score of 8-1, the Wolves now direct their attention towards the Florida Institute of Technology. It will be a three-game series at Cole Field beginning Friday night at 6:00 p.m. and a doubleheader to follow on Saturday at 12 and 3 p.m.

West Georgia at a Glance
The Wolves come into this weekend with an overall record of 7-12 and 3-5 in Gulf South Conference play. Coming off an uplifting win against Stillman College, UWG looks to carry that positive momentum into this weekend's series. The Wolves have played much better at home this year at 4-5 compared to 3-7 away, so look for them to take advantage of playing on their home diamond.

Florida Tech at a Glance
The Panthers have found early success this year starting the season with a 14-4 overall record and a 1-2 conference record in the Sunshine State Conference. Florida Tech has only played four road games so far in 2014, but have managed to win 3 out of 4. They come into this weekend's series ranked #23 in the nation by the most recent ncaa.com rankings, so expect a tough battle between the two teams as the Wolves look to turn things around.

West Georgia Offense
Where else to begin rather than with the hottest hitter in the West Georgia lineup in Shaquille Jackson? Jackson leads the team with a .387 batting average and is currently on a 12-game hitting streak. In his last game against Stillman, Jackson went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. He has been a more than effective hitter for UWG at the top of the lineup. Leading the team in runs scored, is shortstop Troy Brown. Brown has seems to find a way to reach base and come around to score for the Wolves, so if he reaches base, look for him to cause some havoc on the base path as he is a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen bases this season.

Florida Tech Offense
The Panthers have leaned more on the pitching than their hitting in the 2014 campaign. As a team, they are hitting .261 through eighteen games. A couple key role players in their lineup to look out for are Austin Allen and Grant McKown. Allen leads the team with a .365 average and has belted four homeruns on the year. He has done his job getting in runners to score as well, as he averages a RBI a game and has tallied up six doubles. McKown also has a solid batting average of .345 and has stolen 8-of-10 bases thus far.

West Georgia Pitching
The Wolves starting pitching has been the backbone of the team through the first third of the season. For the second-straight week, a UWG pitcher has earned recognition from the Gulf South Conference as the GSC Pitcher of the Week. Last week, it was All-American Jamie Sexton, and this week, Cole Janousek's efforts against Lee this past weekend earned him the honor. Sexton is 2-2 on the year with a 3.61 ERA and has 28 strikeouts to just 11 walks. Janousek is 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA. In his last start, he pitched seven innings with six strikeouts and didn't allow a run.

Florida Tech Pitching
The Panthers have two excellent starting pitchers in Scott Ward and Ashton Fronsoe. Ward has a perfect 4-0 record and a 0.97 ERA. Florida Tech has also relied on him to go the length of the game as he has already done it twice in five games. Fronsoe has nearly mirrored Ward's dominant outings on the mound as he is 2-0 with a 0.99 ERA. In six appearances, four of which were starts, he has 22 strikeouts to just 6 walks.
