Carrollton, GA - The Wolves will travel to Dahlonega on Tuesday, March 24th to face the North Georgia Nighthawks in a non-conference matchup between the Gulf South Conference and the Peach Belt. UWG is coming off their fourth series win against Conference opponents and their recent hot streak has put them in first place in the GSC midway through the season.
After taking two of three games from West Florida this past weekend, the UWG Baseball (19-8,13-5) team is now in first place in the Gulf South Conference after winning 12 of their last 13 Conference games. The Wolves edged out Alabama Huntsville for the top spot in the GSC with a .722 winning percentage, just a few points ahead of the Chargers who have a .719 winning percentage in the Conference. UWG will resume Conference play this weekend when they travel to Cleveland, Mississippi to take on Delta State.
Part of the Wolves formula for their great start so far this season is good starting pitching and great defense. The Wolves have only made 27 errors in 225 innings played opposed to 48 errors committed by their opponents. The UWG outfield has only made two errors total and they are led by center fielder
Drew Eady who has 34 putouts on 34 chances. The team has also turned 21 double plays this season and the duo of
Troy Brown and
Artemis Kadkhodaian have teamed up for 14 of those double plays.
One of the keys for the upcoming game against North Georgia is the UWG Bullpen. On the season, the bullpen has a record of 7-3 and has pitched 81 innings so far, giving up 23 earned runs. Leading the team in relief appearances this season is
Chris Burdette who is 2-0 with a 3.12 ERA in 17.1 innings pitched. The left hander
Colton Duttweiler is second on the team in appearances with 11, and he has gone 15.2 innings while giving up seven runs on 12 hits.
Ethan Hunter and

Tyler Gunnin has been nearly unhittable with 11 strikeouts in 9.1 innings, and he has a team high five saves.
