Carrollton, GA - The University of West Georgia Baseball team will travel to Cleveland, MS this weekend to take on Conference rival Delta State in a three game series matchup beginning on Saturday, March 28th with a doubleheader starting at 2:00pm, and a single game on Sunday at 1:00pm. The Wolves are currently leading the Gulf South Conference going into the series against the Statesmen.
The Wolves are coming off a close win against North Georgia on Tuesday that gave them 20 wins on the season and this past weekend, UWG won two of three games against Conference opponent West Florida to give the team 13 Conference win in their last 14 GSC games heading into the series against Delta State. Going into the weekend, UWG holds a narrow advantage over Alabama Huntsville for the top spot in the GSC with a .722 winning percentage for the Wolves, and a .719 winning percentage for the Chargers.
The last eight games for UWG, the hom erun ball has been a very important part of the recent hot streak for the Wolves. In the first 20 games, the offense only had two homeruns that were hit by
Troy Brown and
Payton Mann. In the last eight games, the team has hit six homers including two last games by
Tyler Hutch and
Artemis Kadkhodaian.
Garrett Hayes leads the team with two long balls which he hit in the same game against Shorter to start the power surge. Also clearing the fences this season for the Wolves is
Dalton Rogers who hit a homer this past weekend against West Florida.
So far this season, one of the major strengths of the team is their balanced production at the plate.

Dalton Rogers, and
Artemis Kadkhodaian all have at least 20 RBI on the season, and three more Wolves have at least 17 RBI. Hayes leads the team with 27 RBI on the season followed by Kadkhodaian and Rogers who both have 20 RBI.
Delta State at a Glance
This season, weather has drastically affected Delta State, as they have already had five games canceled due to inclement weather. The Statesmen (7-10, 6-5), are coming off a 9-4 loss in their last game out against Ouachita Baptist University on Wednesday. Leading the team at the plate is Brandon Cummins and Junior Ethan Gill who are hitting .382 and .339 respectively. Gill leads the team in RBI with 22 and he also has one home run. The top pitcher for the Statesmen is senior Drew Milligan who has a record of 1-1 with a 3.78 ERA in 33.1 innings pitched.
