BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Men's Track and Field is officially back for the University of West Georgia as the Wolves concluded the BSC Indoor Icebreaker on Friday night.
UWG competed in four events, highlighted by
Joshua Sleight's sixth place finish in the 1000m race.
1000m Race
Along with Sleight's 2:40.55 time, which was good enough for a sixth-place finish,
Anthony Garcia picked up an eighth-place finish with a time of 2:43.99.
One Mile Race
Derek Gallardo led the way for the Wolves in the one mile as the senior recorded a time of 4:41.82, placing him in 16
th.
Bruno Valdez also picked up a top-20 place, finishing in 20
th with a time of 4:47.90.
Men 3000M
Griffin Stephens, Mehari Van der Reit,
Felipe Barrios, and Tim Feezor represented West Georgia in the 3000m race. Griffin was the first out of four to cross the line, placing 15
th with an 8:51.93 time. For Van der Riet, he clinched a 18
th place finish with a time of 8:53.23, while Barrios secured a top-20 finish, coming in at #20 with a time of 8:55.17. Feezor rounded out the group with a 27
th place finish, crossing the line in 9:11.47.
Men Shot Put
Matthew Brunner and
Joshua Still competed in the shot put as Brunner recorded a throw of 8.09m while Still recorded a 7.79M throw.
West Georgia will be back in action on January 19 when they travel to Nashville, Tennessee for the Vanderbilt Invitational.
