CARROLLTON, Ga. - For the first time this season, a UWG softball player has been honored by the Gulf South Conference with a weekly award.\

Freshman Emma Nixon was named GSC Freshman of the Week following a performance that saw her go 5-for-10 for the week with a double, a three-run home run and six RBIs as she helped the Wolves sweep Shorter in a weekend series.

Nixon, the Land O' Lakes, Florida native, is the first UWG freshman since 2018 to earn a Freshman of the Week honor.

The Wolves are back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. EST taking on Mississippi College in a neutral site, non-conference doubleheader.
