KENNESAW, Ga. - The UWG men's golf team put an exclamation point on the first fall season of the Division I era as the Wolves fired a 291 to finish tied for second at the Pinetree Intercollegiate in Kennesaw, Georgia.

West Georgia's 291 was the third-lowest round of the tournament in any round by any team, trailing only a 287 and a 279 from the tournament host and winners Kennesaw State. The Wolves vaulted from fourth place to a second-place tie on the final day with a 54-hole team total of 900, tying with in-state foe Georgia State.

"I can't put into words how proud I am of these young men," said head coach Shannon Lipham. "We are going up against schools every week with decades of Division I experience and history while we have been a Division I school for two months and the reality is we are holding our own with these schools."

Milton Wallin headlined the event for UWG, finishing with a one-under 71 on Tuesday to notch a top-10 finish. The freshman made four birdies on the day, including two on a bogey free back nine on his way to a sixth-place tie.

After a final round 76, freshman Thomas Romani had the second-best finish for the Wolves, coming in 15th place.

Christopher Dedman bounced back from a tough second round and posted a one-over 73. The freshman made three birdies on the day and rolled in an eagle putt on the par-five seventh. Dedman tied for 28th with teammate Tyler Nesci who made three birdies on Tuesday to shoot 74.

It was a solid finish for Pablo Illescas, who also made an eagle on the seventh and rolled in 14 pars to post a 73 and a 34th-place finish.

The Wolves now get back in the lab and work on their games before the break and then return to competition on February 24-25 at the World Golf Village Collegiate in St. Augustine, Florida.

"I cannot wait to get things restarted in the spring. Its a really exciting time to be at UWG," concluded Lipham.
