BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 2024 GSC Indoor Track and Field Championships have concluded with the University of West Georgia Women's Track and Field Team picking up a third place finish.
The T'oni Show
It was a historic two-day performance for T'oni Birden as the sophomore was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer and the Most Outstanding Overall Performer by the conference.
Women's 60m
Kira Montefusco finished in fourth place with a time of 7.78 while Dasani Minter finished with a time of 7.87.
Women's One Mile
Laney Pierce was the lone Wolf competing in the women's one mile and finished with a time of 5:46.46.
Women's Triple Jump
Four Wolves competed in the Women's Triple Jump. Birden took home a silver medal with a 11.70m jump. Haley Trammell finished with a jump of 11.51m while Taylor Hampton was next in line as with a jump of 10.94m. Amaya Hammel had a 10.05m jump.Â
Women's Weight Throw
Four West Georgia representatives competed in the Weight throw event. Melita-Marie Roachford and Dru Green highlighted the event as Roachford placed second, winning a silver medal with a 17.89m throw. Green placed third, getting a bronze medal with a 15.35m throw. Kyla Ford was next for the Wolves with a 14.30m throw while Madeline Campell finished with a 13.05m throw.
Women's 200m
Kira Montefusco was the lone competitor in the 200m run, finishing with a time of 25:94 which is a season best for her.
Women's 400m
Four Wolves competed in the 400m with Chloe Leblanc crossing the finish line with a time of 1:01.14, setting a new personal best. Jaeva Ridley was next to cross the finish line with a time of 1:01.47. Shamiyah Perry finished with a time of 1:01.48 and Maniyah Thomas closed out the event with a time of 1:05.96.Â
Women's 800m
Kathrin Maurer finished with a time of 2:32.75 which set a new personal best. Joycelyn Tifrea was the next one to cross the finish line at a time of 2:33.74. Linda Vasquez, Jordan Jarnot, Stephanie Beltran finished 18th-20th respectively.
Women's 3000m
UWG had three competitors that competed in the 3000m. Kristal McQueen was in the top-10, placing ninth with a time of 10:32.05. Catherine Greer finished 15th with time of 11:09.66 and Madeline Gaskins finished with a time of 12:08.06.
Women's 4x400
For the Women's 4x400 relay, the competitors were Ridley, Leblanc, Renteri-Silva, and Perry. The quartet finished with a time of 4:12.28.
Women's High Jump
Three Wolves competed in the Women's High Jump. Olivia Fulford placed fifth place with a 1.55m jump. Alexis Doll was next for the Wolves with a 1.45m jump. Haley Trammell finished with a 1.40m jump.
West Georgia will be back in action in Pittsburgh, KS for the DII Nationals March 8-9.
