ATLANTA, Ga. - The UWG men's track and field team opened their first outdoor season since the early 1970s with an 11th place finish at the Emory Spring Break Classic, scoring 28 points in the meet.

Top-five finishes in the triple jump, 1500m, and 3000m were the highlights of the second day of the event held at Morehouse College. 

SPRINTS
No Wolves made it through the 100m prelims, but Kadarius Zackery had the top time on the squad, crossing the timeline in 11.67 seconds, which was the 26th best time in the field.

DISTANCE
Gabriel Wrye's time of 4:15.71 was good for fifth in the 1500m with Joshua Sleight taking eighth with a time of 4:18.91. Eduardo Ortiz, Slade Smith, and Brock Casey also ran the 1500m and finished 16th, 19th, and 26th respectively.

In the 800m, Tim Feezor was the top finisher for UWG, placing 16th with a time of 2:01.94. Wrye also ran the 800m and finished 22nd while Mehari van der Riet finished 24th.

Bruno Valdez ran the 3000m for the Wolves and placed third with a time of 9:17.83

JUMPS
After a solid outdoor debut yesterday, William Shawley finished fourth in the triple jump, hitting 13.50m in his fourth attempt. Richard Griffin jumped 12.31m in his third attempt which was good for a 12th place finish.

THROWS
Joshua Still competed in the discus and finished 35th. The trio of Still, Tristen Farmer, and Clay Chilcutt finished 19th, 22nd, and 28th in the javelin.

West Georgia is back in action next week at the Kennesaw State meet on Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23.
