PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. - The UWG men's golf team opened up play on Sunday at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, shooting a 295 in the opening round at True Blue Golf Club. 

The Wolves are in 10th place as a team and are nine shots out of the top-five with two rounds remaining in the event. 

Leading the Wolves on Sunday was junior Thomas Romani who made four birdies and two bogeys to shoot a first round 70. Romani is tied for 13th after 18 holes of play. 

Reid Rockett made three birdies in his first four holes, and reached three-under through 12 holes on the day, but made a pair of double bogeys down the stretch to finish with a 73 in the opening round. The freshman is tied for 33rd individually. 

JP Groat played even par through the 11 holes before running into trouble on the back nine. The freshman did end with a birdie to finish with a 75 and sits in a 48th-place tie. 

It was a rough start for Luke Able who doubled his first hole of the tournament, and made a bogey on the second, but to his credit he limited the damage and played the final 16 holes at just two-over to card an opening round 77 and is tied for 68th. 

Hayden Canary shot 78 in Sunday's round and played pretty consistently, but was plagued by the 17th hole. Canary will begin round two tomorrow in 72nd place. 

Georgia Southern shot a first round 272 and leads the event by nine strokes over Troy and Georgia State. 

The second round from True Blue Golf Club on Pawleys Island, SC is set for tomorrow.
