UWG Men Shoot 291 in Round Two at Golfweek Fall Challenge

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. - Despite improving their second round score by four strokes, the UWG men's golf team dropped two spots to 12th following Monday's second round play at the Golfweek Fall Challenge at True Blue Golf Club in South Carolina. 

West Georgia, who opened with a team round of 295 on Sunday, shot a three-over 291 on Monday. 

Through two rounds, Thomas Romani is the Wolves' leader as the junior shot 74 on Monday and is even-par through two rounds. Leading UWG in Monday's round, however, was freshman JP Groat who shot a round of 70, giving the Fort Payne, Alabama native three under-par rounds through five career rounds thus far.  

Groat made seven birdies on the day while Romani rolled in one. Romani is in 24th place individually while Groat is in 27th. 

Just one shot behind Groat through 36 holes is another freshman, Reid Rockett. On Monday, Rockett shot a second straight round of 73 with four birdies and is tied for 35th. 

Sophomore Hayden Canary had a four shot improvement himself from round one to round two. The Douglasville native birdied his first and last holes to shoot 74 and sits in 66th place. 

Luke Able made three birdies to shoot 76 and will begin the final day tomorrow in 70th. 

UWG was jumped by Murray State and Radford who sit tied for 10th, three shots clear of the Wolves. Georgia Southern leads the tournament over Troy and Georgia State. 

The Wolves will conclude the event tomorrow from True Blue Golf Club.
