PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. - The UWG men's golf team wrapped up play at the GolfWeek Spring Invitational on Wednesday, shooting a 296 to finish in ninth place with an even-par 54-hole total.
Carrollton native Luke Able wrapped up his best tournament as a Wolf by firing an even-par 72 to finish tied for 15th place. Able opened with two bogeys on his first three holes before fighting back to get to even par by his final hole of the event.
Fellow freshman Thomas Romani also finished with even-par final round. Romani got to as low as four-under on the round, but ran into trouble coming down the final stretch and finished at even par for the round, finishing in 27th.
Milton Wallin's final round 77 put him in a 49th-place tie while Max Winnersjo finished tied for 68th after a final round 75. A final round 81 put sophomore Pablo Illescas in a 78th-place tie.
As a team, UWG finished in ninth, beating six teams who entered the week ranked higher than them in the team rankings. St. John's won the event with a blistering final round, 281.
The Wolves are now idle until their conference championships, playing in there first-ever ASUN Championships on April 22-24 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta, Georgia.
