Johnson, a standout from 1966-70, was a mainstay for West Georgia's track-and-field program during its heyday. A native of Ringgold, Johnson captured 11 individual conference championships and set 10 school records as both an individual and relay team member. His efforts helped lead West Georgia to four consecutive Georgia Intercollegiate Athletic Association titles.
